IGT will shut down its electronic table games division in 2027, the company confirmed on Tuesday. The details were provided by spokesman Phill O’Shaughnessy, who noted the decision follows a restructuring plan aimed at concentrating resources on core business priorities.
Restructuring and Division Closure
Spokesman Phill O’Shaughnessy stated the closure aligns with long-term growth objectives, with full customer support maintained throughout the transition. This step follows a 10 percent global workforce reduction in March, which CEO Hector Fernandez described as a measure to simplify operations and eliminate duplication. The manufacturer’s former lottery segment was separated during the 2024 merger with Everi Holdings and now operates as the publicly traded Brightstar Lottery.Apollo Global Management, which completed the $6.3 billion acquisition in 2024, views the shift as necessary to address competitive gaps. Partner Daniel Cohen told Nevada regulators in June 2025 that the company must close the distance with Aristocrat and Light & Wonder to become a comprehensive supplier for casino operators.
The ETG portfolio previously included blackjack, baccarat, and roulette systems, alongside a dedicated Wheel of Fortune format. Vice President Luigi Cacciapuoti noted in 2024 that the updated platform was rebuilt from new code to balance player engagement with operator requirements.
Electronic table games continue to face spatial limitations on casino floors, where slot machines typically deliver higher revenue per square meter. The format maintains stronger adoption rates in European and Asian markets compared to the United States. Market leader Interblock, which operates under private equity ownership, remains a key competitor in the segment.
